Why butterflies?

Butterflies hold a special place in the hearts of people, transcending the status of bugs. Humans use them to symbolize beauty, nature, life changes and cycles. The mission of OIG is rainforest conservation and education. This lovable and relatable bug sets the stage for discussion about biodiversity, tropical rainforest ecology, and why it is important to conserve, restore, and protect the system as a whole. Our hope is to share living, healthy butterflies with the next generation. We must keep them and other rainforest inhabitants from becoming imaginary creatures found only in storybooks or decorating kids’ rooms.
