Why does the sloth come out of the tree, where it is vulnerable and clumsy? We all do it. It’s a necessary part of life. Sloths come down from the trees about once a week to go, and can loose up to one-third of their body weight after a healthy squat. The sloth is not threatened as much by natural terrestrial predators (such as boas or cats) as much as it is threatened by logging and general deforestation.
